Jessica Tuohy

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons)

Jessica completed a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree (with Honours) at the University of South Australia in Adelaide, Australia. She stayed in Adelaide on completion of her degree and specialised in Paediatrics at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Jessica worked at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital for 5 years.

During this time she gained vast experience from working in a range of clinical areas. She has expertise in the assessment and treatment of children born prematurely and with developmental and gross motor delay. She has experience conducting individual sessions, group therapy sessions, and hydrotherapy groups, particularly targeting babies to school aged children with developmental delay. She also spent time in the paediatric rehabilitation department of the hospital, treating children with both acquired and congenital disabilities, including children with acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury and cerebral palsy.

Jess is predominantly trained in neurology and is an excellent clinician.
Her training occurred via courses, and through hands-on / on-the-job teaching and mentorship in a Children’s Hospital. She has also supervised, trained and supported physiotherapy students in these techniques.

As well as considerable experience in Neurodevelopmental Treament she also has experience in Neonatal Intensive Care, Special Care Nursery, Hydrotherapy, gross motor skills groups.

Jessica enjoys interacting with children and their families, and is a firm believer in empowering the child and family to be active participants in their own therapy journey. She is an advocate of early intervention, and through therapy, aims to improve a child’s function and participation in their daily life.

Our Occupational Therapist helped me think about what I could do at home and at school to compliment what was happening at SPOT. Her sessions are well structured . She also makes the sessions a lot of fun and developed a strong friendship bond with my child.
