Kimberley Carder - Clinical Psychology Resident

Kimberley is a doctoral candidate in the PsyD program in clinical psychology at Alliant International University, Hong Kong. She grew up in Hong Kong and understands the stresses and strengths of the city well. Kimberley has a long history of working with children having worked in multiple children’s organizations in both Hong Kong and Los Angeles. Kimberley has worked in special-needs education for five years, with charity organizations, international schools and eventually running her own support programs. As a research assistant, Kimberley worked on a project for the early-detection of autism. Kimberley returns to SPOT where she was initially trained after completing clinical training placements at Kely Support Group, providing psychotherapy for secondary students at an international school and The Harbour School where she monitored and implemented individualized behavioural and emotional support plans. Her dissertation is on the effects of sensory deprivation floatation tanks and how our sensory needs affect our consciousness. At SPOT, Kimberley is dedicated to administering assessments and is also available for psychotherapy with kids, adults, couples, and families.

Carrie has been amazing with our son and we have been so happy with the progress he has made in such a short time. After determining the improvement areas, she has guided him through many different exercises while making it fun. When he first visited the clinic he was a reluctant talker, but with her charm and her patience, she has really worked magic. He is now much more confident, he is able to express himself, tell stories and has improved his overall communication skills. He has even started to chat with people he meets for the first time. Thank you so much Carrie, we couldn't have wished for a better speech therapist!
