Millie completed her Master of Physiotherapy at the University of Canberra, Australia. After graduation she commenced work at The Canberra Hospital where she worked in paediatrics and neonatology. She gained experience working with a range of paediatric conditions such as developmental delay, juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), plagiocephaly and torticollis, hip dysplasia, cerebral palsy, neurological conditions, orthopaedic conditions, and cystic fibrosis. Furthermore, Millie has completed formal training to progress her skills in cerebral palsy, paediatric orthopaedic conditions and paediatric respiratory conditions. 

 

Millie has experience working in the neonatal intensive care unit and special care nursery providing developmental input for premature babies and babies born with congenital and acquired disability. She has completed training for Prechtl’s General Movements Assessment and Hammersmith Infant Neurological Exam (HINE), which are considered the gold standard assessments for predicting cerebral palsy in premature babies. In addition, Millie worked as part of a multi-disciplinary follow-up clinic where she worked with babies to ensure they are meeting their gross motor and fine motor milestones. 

 

Millie is a firm believer in early intervention therapy to ensure children are given the best opportunity to reach their full potential. She feels the best approach is to make physiotherapy fun and enjoyable for children as well as maintaining a close relationship with families and the child’s support network.

Thanks a lot (Mindy) for your advice and assessment. (Child) enjoyed playing with you during the sessions very much and looking forward to the upcoming session every week. We noticed his significant progress, too. Really thousand thanks. Actually, his teachers also noticed his significant progress after the therapy. He is more willing to follow instructions and is now interacting with teachers and classmates in English and Putonghua. The visiting educational psychologist in school also remarked him as being "completely different". She was a bit concerned during her last visit but was much delighted to see his progress after a few months.
