Serene Cheong

Occupational Therapist, Master of Science (Occupational Therapy)

Serene completed her studies and training in Occupational Therapy in Singapore and Hong Kong. Serene obtained her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She researched on 'Mental imagery preferences across genders' based on their performances on object and spatial preferences. As part of her research studies, she had the chance to collect and analyse handwriting samples of primary school children from various schools in Hong Kong.


Serene has keen interest in working with children and helping families to understand and support children with special needs. Hence upon graduation in 2006, she has been helping families supported by non-government organisations in both Singapore and Hong Kong.


Serene has extensive experience in therapy for children with special needs in pre-school settings. She was the Motor Therapy Team Leader in The Child Development Centre (Hong Kong) from 2011-2015. She has effectively helped children with complex physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, sensory integration difficulties and learning difficulties.


Serene is a child-directed and family-oriented occupational therapist. She loves to incorporate children's play ideas in therapy and supports positive parenting. She specialises in leading parent-toddler groups, conducting developmental assessments and therapy for children in both groups and individual settings. She is certified in conducting Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT) and also trained in a variety of techniques, including Therapeutic Listening (,  Handwriting Without Tears, TEACCH (, Group Stepping Stones Triple P and Group Triple P (
