What exactly is our intensive program?

Our program is based on the STAR MODEL – a gold standard approach.

Intensives consist of bursts of high novelty, concentrated, well designed input that results in changes that are proven to happen quicker and last longer. This is an evidence based and best practice approach. Developed by STAR institute, a premium research and treatment centre based in Colorado, USA.

Summer Intensives are family centred with a focus on parent empowerment. Sessions happen 4-5 times per week over a 4-6 week period.

Parents/caregivers are actively involved in goal setting, treatment sessions and receive ongoing live and/or online coaching.  They will learn how to cultivate a daily lifestyle that supports their child’s development.

Ongoing Support

SPOT will also be available for online conferences with therapists, caregivers, teachers or any role-players who are unable to be involved in the daily therapeutic process.

Goals are practical, relevant and results driven.

A primary goal is always to support and develop social relationships, self regulation and self esteem as this is the foundation for all other developmental goals.

We also focus strong on your child’s individuality and unique developmental profile.

Carrie has been amazing with our son and we have been so happy with the progress he has made in such a short time. After determining the improvement areas, she has guided him through many different exercises while making it fun. When he first visited the clinic he was a reluctant talker, but with her charm and her patience, she has really worked magic. He is now much more confident, he is able to express himself, tell stories and has improved his overall communication skills. He has even started to chat with people he meets for the first time. Thank you so much Carrie, we couldn't have wished for a better speech therapist!
