Virginia now lives with her family in Denver and is the Executive Director at the STAR Institute for SPD.

Virginia completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes University in England. She stayed in Oxfordshire after qualifying and specialised in Paediatrics as part of the Child Development Team at the Hugh Ellis Paediatric Assessment Centre where children across the spectrum of special needs are comprehensively observed and assessed weekly. She also has experience in a special needs pre-school setting, working with children with complex physical disabilities, acquired brain injury in childhood, palliative care associated with chronic conditions and autistic spectrum disorder assessment and intervention.

Virginia grew up in Hong Kong and attended primary and secondary school here before relocating to the UK for university. She moved back to Hong Kong with her family in 2009 after 18 months volunteering in Kenya where she taught life skills to primary school aged children.

Virginia also has experience with ABA (Lovaas Therapy), Conductive Education, special needs schools and preschools, mainstream integration, hand therapy and seating assessment. She has completed her training in Sensory Integration (USC), the Handwriting Without Tears Level One Certification program; is an Expert DIR/Floortime Provider and Training Leader; is The Listening Program certified; and is a certified Integrated Listening System provider, she also has advanced training in the ALERT program.

Virginia’s specialist area of expertise is working with families with children who are experiencing developmental delays due to difficulties with sensory integration, relating and engagement. Virginia uses a Sensory Integrative and DIR Floortime approach to work with the whole family in promoting the building blocks of healthy emotional and behavioural development.

Jess is by far one of the most professional and up to date physiotherapists we have met and we are delighted that she is working with our son with complex physical needs.
