Cherie has over 9 years paediatric experience, and graduated with a Bachelor of Occupational therapy from Cebu Doctors’ University. Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Cherie has worked for two and a half years in China (Beijing and Shanghai) providing occupational therapy intervention to local and expat children in different international schools. After China, Cherie moved to Hong Kong to work as a paediatric occupational therapist, where she has worked in an early intervention setting for the last 5 years, with children with a range of physical, neurological, sensory and cognitive challenges. Cherie has worked with children with a range of difficulties including, profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism, Cerebral Palsy, fine motor and handwriting difficulties, developmental delays, sensory processing disorders and many others.
She has a great belief in ongoing professional development and seeks to gain the most up to date training in OT practise. She is trained in the use of Handwriting without Tears, Sensory Integration, Picture Exchange Communication System, SOS feeding, Write Dance Program, Triple P: Positive Parenting Program etc. She has also recently received her level 1 certification of the Cuevas Medek Exercises (CME1) last April 2019 in Toronto, Canada.
Cherie is also a strong believer in parents and caregivers being an integral part of their children’s therapy, which makes parent/caregiver education an important part of their child’s therapy journey.
