Cheryl is a registered Occupational Therapist (part I) in Hong Kong and gained her bachelor and master’s degrees at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Since her graduation, Cheryl has spent 7 years working in Hong Kong public hospitals and almost 2 years practicing in a private pediatric clinic in Shenzhen, mainland China. On account of her experience, Cheryl has extensive occupational therapist experience in paediatric fields. During her practice in the Hong Kong public hospitals, Cheryl specialized in carrying out assessments and treatments for children with developmental delay, fine motor delay, sensory processing disorder, handwriting, and oral feeding difficulties. In the private setting, Cheryl expanded her specialty in helping young children with autism and since then became a DIR Floortime provider.
Cheryl is very passionate about DIR practice incorporating sensory integration since both approaches are play-based and relationship-based methods to improve a child’s ability to make successes and meet challenges. After years of experience in training, practicing, learning and being a mum, Cheryl developed a lot of self-regulation and co-regulation skills, both of which are fundamental in ASI and DIR theoretical frameworks. Knowing her in person, she could always show a strong understanding of parents’ concerns and worries. Cheryl is a good listener and is always open to talking, sharing, and learning parents’ feedback. She believes that parents are the most influential ones who can guide their kids to make positive changes in their lives.
Cheryl values continuously professional development and spends a lot of her time in professional training. She is certified in Ayres Sensory Integration and Praxis Test, DIRFloortime, Therapressure© Brushing Protocol and Quickshift. On top of that, she has received diversified training in sensorimotor treatment approach, fine motor training, handwriting etc.
Cheryl is easy going person with good interpersonal and communication skills. She can speak and practice in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
