DESCRIPTION:Executive functioning skills provide the basis for the brain’s “command center”\, to enable tweens (ages 10-12) to self-regulate\, plan and organise their thoughts and to put their plans into action to achieve their goals. This group is aimed at supporting tweens navigate the last years of primary school and support the transition into high school. \nAreas of Focus:\nTask Initiation: The ability to start a project (like homework) without procrastinating or needing multiple reminders.\nWorking Memory: Holding and using multiple pieces of information at once\, such as remembering a multi-step instruction from a teacher while looking for a pen.\nPlanning & Prioritization: Deciding which tasks are most urgent and mapping out the steps to complete long-term projects\, like a science fair report.\nOrganization: Keeping track of physical items (backpacks\, binders) and digital files so they don’t get lost.\nInhibitory Control: Managing impulses\, such as resisting the urge to check a phone during study time or pausing before reacting in a social disagreement.\nCognitive Flexibility: Adjusting when plans change or when a first attempt at solving a problem doesn’t work\n \nDetails:\nWhere? We do not offer refunds\, unused sessions will be held as credit for future use. For illness with less than 24 hours’ notice\, a doctor’s note is required to receive credit. Note that credit applies to planned absences\, but same-day cancellations are not eligible.
