LAU Pui Chi Joanna obtained her Master of Social Sciences in Educational Psychology from
the University of Hong Kong in 2016, and has since accumulated extensive experience
working with students across various education levels and backgrounds, from primary school
children to university adolescents. Her experience allows her to devise holistic and
developmentally appropriate support strategy to address the varying cognitive, emotional, and
social needs of students.
Joanna’s work as an educational psychologist covers a vast scope of critical and
developmental support, including comprehensive psycho-educational assessments in areas of
cognitive functioning, learning difficulties, social-communication adjustment, adaptive
functioning, attention difficulties and executive functioning. She works with students facing
learning, social, or behavioural challenges, such as SpLD, ASD, AD/HD, and offers
interventions. Joanna also works closely with parents and schools/ faculty to formulate
tailored support plans, provide consultations regarding students’ diverse academic and
emotional needs, address urgent issues, and offer advise on school’s policy regarding long-
term sustainable support. With the dedication to create an inclusive environment and provide
all-rounded support, Joanna also leads group trainings and workshops to raise awareness
among school staff and peers.
Joanna believes that every person possesses unique abilities and qualities that can be
harnessed to overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. She understands that each
individual’s journey is unique, and she strives to create a safe, supportive and opened
environment where people feel valued and understood, through which she can empower them
to recognize their own strengths. Joanna's passion is further exemplified by her completion of
the Foundation Course for Teaching Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) certified
by the Oxford Mindfulness Centre. She believes that incorporating mindfulness practice into
her work promotes a deeper understanding of oneself and one’s experience.
Joanna is fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin. Her exposure to students from diverse
backgrounds also enables her to appreciate and respect different perspectives in her practice.
