Kirstin was raised in Hong Kong by Chinese and English parents. After completing her studies and work as an Occupational Therapist in England, she joined SPOT in January 2024, fulfilling her goal of returning to her roots!

Initially, Kirstin pursued a BSc in Occupational Therapy in Early Years Education and Learning, intending to become a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher. However, after observing an Occupational Therapist (OT) during her studies she was intrigued by the hands-on and personal nature of OT work, and particularly enjoyed working with children to reach a shared goal in 1:1 or small group settings.

Following her undergraduate degree, Kirstin worked for a few years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a SEN school. During this time, she worked with children and young adults aged 5 to 18 facing challenges such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Global Developmental Delay. Her role involved running therapy groups and collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to complete occupation-based interventions such as independence and self-care skills.

Kirstin then completed her MSc in Occupational Therapy, completing placements in acute paediatric care, dementia care, and hand therapy, as well as a placement focused on adult learning disabilities at a community farm.

Dedicated to continuous professional development, Kirstin is currently pursuing Ayres Sensory Integration training to enhance her skill set. She is particularly passionate about fostering independence in children and believes in empowering them to develop self-efficacy as a means to achieve their goals. Outside of her professional endeavors, Kirstin enjoys rock climbing, discovering the best noodle spots, and cherishing moments with family and friends.

Kirstin practices in English but can understand conversational Cantonese.
