Kirstin grew up in Hong Kong with Chinese and English parents. After completing her studies in England, she joined SPOT in January 2024, fulfilling her goal of returning to Hong Kong!

Initially, Kirstin pursued a BSc in Occupational Therapy in Early Years Education and Learning, intending to become a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher. However, after observing an Occupational Therapist (OT) during her studies she was intrigued by the hands-on nature and personal nature of OT work, and particularly enjoyed working with children to reach a shared goal in 1:1 or small group settings.

Following her bachelor’s degree, Kirstin worked for two years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant in a SEN school. There, she gained experience working with children and young adults (ages 5-18) with difficulties such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, and Global Developmental Delay, running therapy groups and working within a multidisciplinary team.

In 2023, Kirstin completed her MSc in Occupational Therapy at Oxford Brookes. Her placements included acute care, dementia, and hand therapy at King’s College Hospital and University College London Hospital, as well as an adult learning disability placement at a community farm.

Kirstin is currently undertaking Ayres Sensory Integration training to develop her skillset. She is particularly interested in promoting children’s independence in daily tasks and believes in the power of children developing self-efficacy for them to be able to achieve their goals. In her free time, she enjoys rock climbing, hunting down the best noodle spots, and spending time with family and friends.
