As Occupational Therapists, we believe handwriting is more than just writing!
As mentioned in our previous post, handwriting is built upon various skillsets including
✨ Sensory processing
👀 Visual perception and ocular control
🏋🏻♀️ Proximal control and stability
👌🏻 Fine motor skills
Here is a snapshot of our Occupational Therapist, Crystal Fong during her Writing Adventures camp at SPOT. She utilises her knowledge from Size Matters Handwriting Program and incorporates them into fun games targeting the aforementioned skillsets🎲
Through games, the kiddos are able to work on crucial functional handwriting processes and elements, including
✅ Get the kids’ whole body, fingers and brain all warmed up
✅ Understand force control for pencil grip and writing
✅ Learn letters sizing and spacing through movement games
