What is a fight fight freeze response?

When we are faced with actual or perceived dangerous or threatening situations ,our fight, flight or freeze stress response is activated. We do, our kiddo do!

A fight flight freeze response is an involuntary physiological response from the amygdala that could recognize the danger and prepare our body to react to it: increasing heart rate, immediate stress, sweating.
For example, in a ball game, kids “fight” to catch a ball flying onto their face, to “flight” by escaping and avoid being hit or to “freeze” by staring and observing the side of a person shouting “watch out”.

To let kiddos learn more about these responses, we could let them be aware of, and know how to settle or calm their body. For example, doing mindfulness exercises, switching focus or taking deep breaths.
