Brain Hackers - Unlocking Skills for Success

Executive functioning skills provide the basis for the brain’s “command center”, to enable tweens (ages 10-12) to self-regulate, plan and organise their thoughts and to put their plans into action to achieve their goals. This group is aimed at supporting tweens navigate the last years of primary school and support the transition into high school.

Areas of Focus:
Task Initiation:
The ability to start a project (like homework) without procrastinating or needing multiple reminders.
Working Memory:
Holding and using multiple pieces of information at once, such as remembering a multi-step instruction from a teacher while looking for a pen.
Planning & Prioritization:
Deciding which tasks are most urgent and mapping out the steps to complete long-term projects, like a science fair report.
Organization:
Keeping track of physical items (backpacks, binders) and digital files so they don’t get lost.
Inhibitory Control:
Managing impulses, such as resisting the urge to check a phone during study time or pausing before reacting in a social disagreement.
Cognitive Flexibility:
Adjusting when plans change or when a first attempt at solving a problem doesn’t work

Where? SPOT Central, 17/F, Wing’s Building, 110-116 Queen’s Road Central
When? Tuesdays at 5:00-6:00pm on Feb 24, Mar 3, Mar 10, Mar 17 and Mar 24 with Cameron Dalling
How much? 4,500HKD for five sessions
Ages? 10 to 12 year olds
Min: 3 clients, max 6

Please note:
Payment for group must be made in full prior to first session. Participants are expected to attend all sessions to complete the workshop. There will be no refunds or make- up classes.
