PEERS® for Preteens/teens
PEERS® for Preteens/teensPEERS® for Preteens/Teens is an internationally recognised, evidence-based social skills intervention for motivated teens in secondary school who are interested in learning new ways of making and keeping friends. During each group session, adolescents are taught important social skills and are given the opportunity to practice these skills in session during socialisation activities. Parents will be sent home lesson summaries which illustrate how to assist their children in making and keeping friends by helping to expand their social network. Feedback will be provided weekly to teens during weekly socialisation homework assignments.
Who should attend?
Preteens/Teens (aged 12-17) who are motivated and interested in making and keeping friends, handling conflict and rejection and increasing social skills.
Teens will learn how to:
– Use appropriate conversation
– Use humor appropriately
– Use electronic communication
– Enter & exit conversations
– Handle rejection, teasing, bullying
– Be a good host during get-togethers
– Be a good sport
– Handle arguments and disagreements
– Change a bad reputation
– Handle rumors and gossip

When? Fridays at 6:00pm-6:50pm (Sept 5, 12, 19, 26 Oct 3, 17, 24, 31 Nov 7, 14, 21, 28 Dec 5, 12)
How much? $16,660 for 14 sessions
Led by Sarah Hanniffy and Jared Dubbs, two experienced children and teen counsellors, the program will include one group parent zoom per month (three in total for one hour) and option to do one to one parent sessions at additional cost.
Please note:
Payment for group must be made in full prior to first session. In order to maintain the group numbers consistency, there will be no refund or make up sessions offered unless a doctor’s certificate is provided.
