Who We Serve

For toddlers and children, we believe parents are the experts on their children. Our role is to support and collaborate with caregivers, teachers, and parents to understand and foster each child’s unique potential.

For adolescents, we aim to empower young adults in their journey toward autonomy and self-acceptance. We help them develop coping skills, productively express their thoughts and feelings, and understand their identity and contributions to the world.

For families: Our family therapy focuses on rebuilding connections and resolving conflicts, helping families work through life’s challenges together.

Parent therapy is designed to improve parent-child relationships, enhance positive parenting skills, and address children’s behavioural or emotional issues, emphasising the parents’ role in fostering positive change.

Does your child...?
  • Have difficulties in multiple areas of life, such as family relationships, academic performance, leisure activities and friendships?
  • Have low self-esteem, less confident or less effective?
  • Show excessive worry about the future?
  • Express hopelessness?
  • Withdraw from family, friends or activities he or she used to enjoy?
  • Have a significant change in sleep habits, appetite or behaviour?
  • Engage in negative behaviour more frequently?
  • Have repetitive, self-destructive behaviours such as hair-pulling or skin-picking?
  • Talk about or engage in any kind of self-harm?
  • Make comments like “I wish I weren’t here,” or “Nobody would care if I ran away”?
  • Talk explicitly about suicide?
  • Have tantrums or meltdowns?

Our psychology team recommends that parents trust their gut. “You know your child best. If something just doesn’t feel right, trust that instinct. It’s better to go and get something checked out if you’re not sure. We are here to help guide you through the process so you feel supported and understood every step of the way.” – Dr. Amanda Oswalt Visher (Director of Psychological Services)

What is the difference between Psychology and Counselling.

If you are unsure which service you require, do not worry, a SPOT therapist (counsellor or psychologist) will call you after your initial enquiry. During this telephone call, they will guide you to the right professional based on your concerns.

Our psychology team are all qualified clinical psychologists. That means they have doctorates and have studied for over 6 years in this field. Their extensive study included research and study in many modalities of psychology practise including health and education.

The counselling team have all studied to a Masters level in Counselling. They are equiped to support children, adolescents and parents/caregivers to make sense of their feelings and behaviours, techniques like talking or more creative methods like drawing and art may be used to help their child thrive in the counselling setting.

“I want to share my joy and let other moms know that there is help out there. I felt so empowered and encouraged yesterday.

Thank you so much Amanda. “
